About FEF



The Foundation for Economic Freedom is an organization dedicated to advancing the cause of economic and political liberty, good governance, secure and well-defined property rights, and free markets. It counts among its members former and present Cabinet secretaries and undersecretaries, leading figures in the academe, respected media personalities and opinion makers, and prominent members in the business and finance community.


Vision

The Foundation envisions a free, caring and economic society that:
  • Promotes equity and civic responsibility as its primary values
  • Is based on a market-oriented and sustainable economic regime
  • Values efficiency in an interdependent global economy
  • Balances the need for economic growth with the development of its people.
The Foundation aims to:
  • Improve the economic literacy and knowledge of Filipinos to enable them to critically decide on development issues affecting the country
  • Expose economic inefficiencies to government, business and industry, and the general public to guide decision-makers in pursuing appropriate corrections
  • Present alternative economic policies to government decision-makers
  • Influence policy-makers in government, business, and industry to aim for sustainable economic development.
 
Trustees Officer and Fellows:



The Foundation is led by its Board of Trustees composed of former Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Dr. Felipe Medalla as Chairman, and former Finance Undersecretary Romeo Bernardo as Vice-Chairman. Business columnist Mr. Calixto Chikiamco acts as President together with former Finance Secretary Ernest Leung as Treasurer and former Tariff Commissioner Atty. Ferdinand Tolentino as Corporate Secretary.  

The Foundation counts former Prime Minister Cesar Virata, former Finance Secretary Roberto de Ocampo, the late Budget Secretary Emilia Boncodin, former Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla, former Energy Secretary Delfin Lazaro, Peter Wallace, SWS President Mahar Mangahas, former economic planning secretaries Dante Canlas and Romulo Neri, former Agriculture Undersecretary and Dean of the UP School of Economics Dr. Arsenio Balisacan, former NEDA Undersecretary Dr. Ruping Alonzo, Columnist Boo Chanco, AIM Professor and Managing Director of DMCI Holdings, Dr. Victor Limlingan, former ADB economist Dr. Ernest Pernia and former BIR Commissioner Rene Bañez among others as Fellows.

The Foundation also includes fellows who are cabinet members of the current Aquino Administration namely Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Cayetano Paderanga and DepEd Undersecretary Francis Varela.
